When laws threaten Minnesota builders, we go to court.

MMCA members stand behind the Legal Action Committee of the Builders Association of Minnesota (BAM). The committee takes legal action on behalf of builders, remodelers and suppliers when state rules put their businesses at risk.

Challenging the misclassification law

BAM’s Legal Action Committee is challenging Minnesota’s construction worker misclassification (independent contractor) law. The suit argues that the “Jumbo” omnibus bill that carried the law violated the single subject and single title requirements of the Minnesota Constitution. The case is in Ramsey County District Court.

Friend-of-the-court briefs

BAM also files amicus (“friend of the court”) briefs in cases that affect the industry, including a brief to the Minnesota Supreme Court on building fees.
